Such star-composers as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Kurt Weil, Duke Ellington, Leonard Bernstein, Jerome Kern, Richard Rogers, Astor Piazzola, Mikhail Tariverdiev, Jules Massenet and Francis Poulenc are featured in the programme.
Marina Klimova and composer-conductor Julian Gallant, together with director Anton Levahin, have reinterpreted these greatest hits to present them in a very fresh but at the same time most classical manner. This concert will give you a sense of the atmosphere of 1930s Manhattan, transporting you to the jazz clubs where performed the legendary Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington. The concert itself is a glamorous Hollywood film set, where you can imagine the shadow of the iconic Greta Garbo, glorious Marlene Dietrich and seductive Ava Gardner.
